Inauguration of AMPC, Kolkata

AMPC, Kolkata inaugurated by Dr. Kruparani Killi, Hon’ble Minister of States for Communication & IT

at 12:30 hrs. on 27.01.2013

 

Prof. Saugata Roy, Member of Parliament and Smt. Chandrima Bhattacharya, Hon'ble Min.of States law and Judicial (independent charge) and Health and family welfare department, WB Government,were chief guest and  Special Guest in this inauguration respectively.

Smt. Manjula Prasher, Secretary,  Department of Posts, Sri Subhasish Sarkar, Member (Operation), Postal Service Board, Sri R.R.P Singh, Chief PMG, WB Circle, Sri S.K.Sinha, CGM (MB) were present in this  inauguration.

The gracious presence of Sri B.N.Som, Retd. Director General, Dept. of Posts, Sri S.B.Bhattacharya, Retd. Member, PSB, Sri B.K.Das, Retd. CPMG, and Sri M.K.Banerjee, Retd. CPMG made a grand success.

AMPC Kolkata is an important milestone for the Department of Posts in its attempt to provide a reliable, efficient, safe and cost effective postal service to the nation. AMPC Kolkata has been set up with the aim of modernizing mail processing in India Post. A Letter Sorting machine (LSM) and one Mixed Mail Sorter (MMS) have been installed at AMPC Kolkata. These sorting machines utilize state-of-the-art Optical Character Recognition (OCR) - Video Coding System (VCS) that can read the address written on the mail pieces and sort them to the correct destination.
